It’s been quite a month here at The Magic Canvas, and we’ve been able to share art and magic with a lot of the community in our first month of being open!

We started with our morning and afternoon art classes for kids ages 5-17, each age group broken up by day, and have sold out of multiple sessions. Enrollment for our next month of classes has already opened so grab your spot fast!

In the evenings, we’ve been able to have everyone from local mom groups to sports clubs to couples on date nights join us for a nightly paint and sip. It’s always so fun for us to see how each person interprets each painting into “fun art, not fine art”.

We will have our second magic show this week, and in addition to selling out our first show with the wonderful magic of Caleb Sigmon, we’ve also sold out of The Dark Cabaret and Friends show coming up this week!

One of our favorite things here at The Magic Canvas has been the ability to combine art, magic, and fun into our Kid Parties! We hosted our first party for a very special newly-turned 7 year old this past week. She loves magic, and decided on the “You’re a Wizard” party! We had so much fun helping everyone make their very own magic wands (complete with glitter so we clean it up – not you!), painting a fluffy bunny coming out of a hat, and of course a magic show with lots of participation from the audience. During the show, the audience got to use their newly created wands to help with the magic onstage, and our birthday girl got turned into a real wizard to do the big finale trick!

We already have a few more booked with our other themes! Our Magical Princess Tea Party, perfect for any prince or princess where we use real china, learn royal etiquette from a real princess, paint a magical unicorn and get a very special magic show from Princess Tiff! We also have a “Color Your Dreams” party made for your little artist, where we create a beautiful custom piece on canvas and decorate a cupcake from a paint palette.

Our Houdini’s Hideout room is completed! This room will be exclusively for our kid’s parties and story times, and I can’t wait!

We offer 3 different themes for kid’s parties – A Magical Tea Party, You’re a Wizard, and Color Your Dreams. Of course, if you have any other ideas we would love to hear them and have a special section on our website form to fill that in.

With our Magical Tea Party, our resident magician Princess Tiff will enchant our party goers with a princess themed magic show (with a special finale that the birthday kid gets to help with)! We’ll also have a special painting of a flowered unicorn, make sparkly wands, learn proper princess etiquette, and learn to make a special wishing star.

You’re a Wizard is the perfect party for our friends that love wizarding and magical worlds! A special magic show presented by our magician along with learning a new magic trick will be sure to make your little wizard feeling like they are magical! They will even get to paint their own bunny in a hat, and create their own magic wand for their future magic performances.

Our third party, Color Your Dreams, is aimed for little artists! Our party goers will be able to make their own acrylic painting on canvas, decorate a cupcake with a palette of toppings, and learn a lot about colors while still having a lot of fun!

To get into Houdini’s Hideout, you have to say the magic words and go through the secret door in our bookshelf! The room magically transforms to match the theme of each party perfectly too!

We’ve been very busy here at The Magic Canvas this week getting everything ready to welcome our friends to our magical studio!

When we first started putting our studio together, we had painted walls and that’s about it. That is definitely now no longer the case! Over the last week, we have painted two large blackboard murals – one in our main studio and the other in our secret Houdini’s Hideout room. Each are collaborations with our team here and you can see how each played their part. Some of us even overcame our fear of heights for our 8 foot high murals! Our shelves have been added to display not only our artwork, and original artwork by a very talented commissioned artist, but also a special section for a featured local artist each month!

We have quite a few characters here as well, besides our team of course. Our mascot Super Dali, a superhero rabbit with the power of creativity, has been added to our walls and will greet you as soon as you walk in. Our “bartender” Harry is keeping watch over all of the snacks and drinks we’ll offer. Luckily, since he’s a skeleton we don’t have to worry about any candy bars mysteriously disappearing. Speaking of snacks, our popcorn machine arrived too! We’ll have freshly popped popcorn available daily for our visitors!

Of course, we need something to paint on, so our tables arrived and we spent quite awhile arranging them to make sure every one is safely distanced while still maintaining an excellent view of our stage area. This part was a little easier because we also had our television screens mounted on either side of our stage for easy viewing right next to our “stage hands”.

“Houdini’s Hideout” for our kid’s parties is taking shape pretty quickly! Our second chalkboard mural resides there, but to see it you need to go through the secret door. We can’t wait to host Princess, Magic, and Art themed parties there along with our weekly Magical Story Time. It’s a perfect place for fun and magic!
